{"id":8,"date":"2012-06-21T00:16:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-21T07:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lennysride.com\/50states\/whiskeypapa\/here\/2012\/06\/21\/day-twenty-three\/"},"modified":"2017-11-27T08:16:22","modified_gmt":"2017-11-27T16:16:22","slug":"day-twenty-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lennysride.com\/50states\/2012\/06\/21\/day-twenty-three\/","title":{"rendered":"Day Twenty Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leaving Kansas City I am really enjoying the ride.\u00a0 It&#8217;s back onto the country roads and I was just heading in a general direction instead of having a specific route in mind.\u00a0 I did want to skirt my way into Arkansas so I could add that to my list of states.\u00a0 Arkansas and Oklahoma will mean that this bike has been in Mexico, Canada, and every U.S. state but Hawaii.\u00a0 By the time this ride is over the odometer will be in the 94,000 range.\u00a0 Anyway, a nice way to start the day for sure.\u00a0 It was another windy day but there was some cloud cover most of the day so at least it wasn&#8217;t HOT too.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-1f4YkhJUHUM\/T-JmstMV7XI\/AAAAAAAAAi4\/hc2DaAkJx_8\/s1600\/Lindsey.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"132\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-1f4YkhJUHUM\/T-JmstMV7XI\/AAAAAAAAAi4\/hc2DaAkJx_8\/s200\/Lindsey.jpg\" width=\"200\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I was wondering which way to go when I got to Tulsa &#038; figured I&#8217;d call another FAA friend from the early days and see if he was still around.\u00a0 He was there and said, &#8220;Come on Down!!&#8221; so I headed for Oklahoma City.\u00a0 I know, I know &#8211; &#8220;UGH &#8211; Oklahoma City?&#8221;\u00a0 But y&#8217;all are just citified and don&#8217;t appreciate those folks.\u00a0 I fit right in there, I guess you&#8217;d say they are my kinda people.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t believe that check out this road sign &#8211; there are a few Lindsey&#8217;s out here and it is the part of the country my grandfather came from.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-mvtvWMkZqQM\/T-JnBlnVUTI\/AAAAAAAAAjA\/5p5qgFJjBLI\/s1600\/FB+&#038;+Mary.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"200\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-mvtvWMkZqQM\/T-JnBlnVUTI\/AAAAAAAAAjA\/5p5qgFJjBLI\/s200\/FB+&#038;+Mary.jpg\" width=\"200\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Bert &#038; Mary are wonderful people and were happy to have me stay in their new house (it is nice for sure).\u00a0 Bert just retired but is working as a contractor at the Academy for some extra spending money.\u00a0 Bert used to be an outfitter and guide when he was working in Phoenix so we spent much of the evening talking about hunting and guns.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t get too much of that out in California so it was a welcome subject change.\u00a0 Bert has quite a gun collection as well and I spent some time drooling over several of his firearms.\u00a0 Thanks a lot guys, I&#8217;m looking forward to our next visit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leaving Kansas City I am really enjoying the ride.\u00a0 It&#8217;s back onto the country roads and I was just heading in a general direction instead of having a specific route in mind.\u00a0 I did want to skirt my way into &hellip;
